Amanda Bossard was just out high school when she began her marine biology studies at Alaska Pacific University in Anchorage. Bossard's career began in 1999 when she was offered a position on the F/V Sunset. The 65-foot halibut vessel was converted into a salmon tender by Murat Ariatn. The couple has been commercial fishing for the past 20 years. Bossard has married Aritan. They've united and claim their respective industries. They believe in conservative, sustainable managing of the renewable resources for seafood. Otolith opened its direct market wholesale distributor in Philadelphia after Bossard was able to return from home with her two daughters, Bella 3 years old and Andre one, to Philadelphia. In 2007, Bossard mother of two children Bella aged 3 and Andre 1. She returned to Philadelphia from her home in Canada, opened Otolith as a direct market wholesale seafood distributor. Bossard and her children Andre 10, and Isabella 12 make their annual return in Southeast Alaska as deckhands to collect wild salmon in the summer. With a small 42 troller, the Bossards catch salmon using hooks. Then they work alongside Aritan in a local processing plant for two weeks.
